One person you just don’t see at the table often enough is the supplier: the farmer, the fisher, the rancher, the hunter. It’s too bad because they have a lot to bring to the conversation. The other is the chef.

Fortunately for all present, Vancouver’s non-profit, eat local barnstormers, Farmfolkcityfolk hosted its second annual Dinner & Dialogue: Five Courses of Conversation and invited plenty of both to the table.  With some of the city’s top suppliers and chefs leaving their seats only to take their turn in the kitchen of the Roundhouse Cultural Centre’s kitchen, the table talk was rich, varied and illuminating.

As for the five dishes prepared by chefs Todd Bright (Wild Rice), Todd Hodgins (Pair Bistro), Quang Dang (Diva at the Metropolitan Hotel), Chris Whittaker (O’Doul’s at the Listel Hotel) and Karen Barnaby – the dialogue was not the only success of the evening.
